Well here in Tejas, Our opener is Oct 1, 2011. I'll be hunting Sam Houston National Forest. The wife, Dog and I will be camping there and I'll be out hunting most of the days.

We'll be there Friday so I can scout a little as I look for hogs. Hopefully I can report back with pix and Story from a hunt or two. Good Luck to everyone and Be Safe in the deer woods.

I won't be bowhunting for deer this year because my bowhunting area was caught in one of Texas' numerous wildfires. The area I was going to hunt in was a place which got consumed by a 2300 acre wildfire. The fire actually got as close as 300 yards from my home.

With that said, there is a lady who lives at the end of my street near some deep woods and she told me the wildfire didn't get to her property and it's still loaded with feral hogs.            She sees them, but hasn't seen any deer back there.       :(     She told me I'm welcome to come and bowhunt the pigs.      :D    

So, looks like it's going to be a  "Plan B wild pork" bowhunting season for me.      

Go get them!

October 1 is the start date up here in ontario too, but I won't be getting out until next weekend.
