Gents...

Has anybody here ever used the short broadhead adapters?  If so did you have any trouble with structual integrity?  There certainly isn't much being seated into the broadhead as compared to a full length insert.  I can visualize this coming apart at a most inopportune time...

Thanks,

Hey Brian,

I prefer steel over aluminum but I want the ferrule filled as much as possible. Given the choice between a short steel adapter or a long aluminum, I'll take the long aluminum every time. Provided of course that I can still hit the desired finished weight I'm looking for,

Hey Ron...

I've been polishing the edges....your sharpeners are just so sweet....no hair left on my arms...LOL.

These heads finished up to heavy at 235...arrow flight went to hell quick...at 200 we are back in the game.  So I ground down some of the steel 100 grain inserts and took 25 grains off of them.  Which is phyisically more than I thought it would be.  Now they are short...very short...look inadequate.

Why don't you just buy 75 gr steel adapters?

I see what you mean Trad-Man.I also like the longest adapters I can use but occasionally have to use a 75 grainer. The taper on the ones I have measures 11/16" long. Not sure what you ended up with. Some short, aluminum ones measure 9/16".

The short adapters can be made to work if they are glued properly with a good quality glue.I guess the question is:how short is the taper on your modified adapters?
