Hey all,

People rave about the effectiveness of the ASAT pattern, but I have never met anyone in Texas that uses it. I primarily hunt the hard woods of North/Central Texas (and a little in the Hill Country too).

How would this camo do in my area?

Thanks,

In a word FANTASTIC!! I have never seen anyone in my home area wearing it either but that doesn't stop me from wearing it. It works great but it isn't one of the mainstream camo's.

I don't know of anyone else in the area using it either; my brother-in-law looked at me like a dog that had just been shown a card trick when I told him I was going to order the leafy suit (let's just say, his truck has the Mossy Oak steering wheel protector and seat covers, mmmkay?).

All kidding aside, I'll be finding out soon enough myself how well it works.  I ordered the leafy suit and have a lease in the Hill Country area.  I also ordered some of their regular pants as well because by all accounts, the suit, especially the pants, get hung up on briars and such rather easily.  Certain areas I'll be hunting in are a bit thick, so I may end up just using the leafy jacket and mask; will take some experimenting.

My only concern is that certain high-traffic spots I have picked out for natural ground blinds (I only hunt from the ground) are a bit sparse and there are basically only small cedar trees available for cover (I mean, unless you dig a hole, but I don't think the land owner nor his cattle would be too pleased with me).  ASAT light tan in front of dark green background....  We'll see.

I have used in in West Texas with good results. Pretty good all around pattern. Have used for hogs, deer and coyote calling.

Anyone know of a good place to buy some ASAT?

I just bought it direct, am in the market for a little more so if someone knows a place cheaper I'd be interested too.

The reason you haven't seen anyone wearing it is....you can't see anyone wearing it.  ;)

I like mine, especially when it is hot - I just wear a tshirt underneath.  I've won some staredowns and been the closest I've ever been to a deer on the ground in it. Don't see why it wouldn't be great in TX.

But, I don't use the pants because it doesn't help much in a stand and it catches.  For that reason and it is a little noisy, I am grabbing my predator stuff more and more.

I'm new and not clear on the matter of posting a non-sponsor's info, so I'm going to PM both of you with some info I found during my recent search for the leafy suit.

I had an older style ASAT leafy suit a couple of years ago but try as I may I could stop the fabric from making noise. Is the newer style quiet?
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

This is all really helpful. Thanks for all the replies and thanks for posting the pic "badwithabow"! I'm definitely leaning towards the leafy suit, but a little scared about the noise some people have reported. Is this just a hit or miss problem? or are all the suits noisy?

thanks,
Matthew
