Havent shot my Super Shrew (Five-0) since May so figured Id start shooting it to get it ready as my back up bow.

Took her for a scouting/squirreling mission. I knew things were gonna be interesting when I stepped out of the truck and had 2 jakes and 2 magnum longbeards under the landowners bird feeder at 25 yards. A week to go before theyre fair game or Ida been plucking instead of typing now. At 10:15 I was in a blind that I missed 4 shots at squirrels from last week. Heard a noise and turned slowly to see a big doe and last years fawn strolling down a trail across the creek, that if in season would have been chip shots.

After they moseyed off I was feeling pretty good about this suburban honey hole and moved of to an oak stand that is one of the only ones dropping acorns this year. From here I saw one big gray run off and while watching him this big male came bounding past me until he got to about 10 feet. A 145 grain Ace Hex on a Carbon Express Terminator to the eye  stopped him right there. Hes a cool looking squirrel, a big male but look at his belly markings. Almost fox squirrel like. Well it was a good morning and Im psyched about this honey hole less than a mile from home.

It sounds like it will be a good season with early venison, if things hold up for you.
Good luck Izzy.

Now that is some shooting there. The belly markings are very neat indeed, almost looks like a skunk marking.

I have a friend who is a great rifle hunter.
Whenever people ask him where is the best place to shoot deer (meaning his best hunting areas) he replies anywhere in the eye son  ;)
Looks like you have that part down pat! Great shooting!
