Has anyone made shafts from one of these two woods?
Seems like they would make a really durable heavy shaft that would be near impervious to weather and stay straight. I've seen footings made with it but not a whole shaft.

Haven't seen any, but I have made risers with it. Man it would be heavy. Pretty too.

I have some shafts that Bill Bonzar made. He is from Alleghany wood shafts. They are actionwood and spined about 60-65 I think. They may be on the classifieds before long as I don;t think I will ever shoot them.

Why is that? I need 75-80 spined shafts but I might be able to make those work with a lighter head. What do they weigh bare bones and what are they cut at BOP?

Why is?? it that I will never shoot them? I just do not make wood arrows any more. I get busy making bows and I know that for most of what I do an AD Trad lite will work. I have kept the shafts around for about 5-6 years thinking I might do em up or have somebody do em up for me, but, there they sit. I will go git some specs and get back to you. They are full length that is for sure.

Well, I didn't mean to use the Pow Wow as  classified so My appologies to the gang for that. But,
I will post the pics for the gang to see what actionwood shafts look like. I have never used them so I can't say much. They seem to be pretty straight and heavy. Just what a nice arrow needs to be. Yhe shaft just under the tag has been wetted with solvent to show color.

talk to tradout. I got some laminated birch shafting from them and it was a great decision. Havent broken any yet

I would guess its pretty close to either the laminated birch or maple shafts availible now. Very heavy and strong and matched in wt and spine.........

Two Tracks, I believe those are laminated birch shafts as opposed to Actionwood. I was buying the birch from allegheny for a few years. Very nice shaft with a nice weight to them.

The newer actionwood is Laminated birch, yes?
The shafts are indeed labled as such. The old stock actionwood was made of laminated maple.
Thats how I understand it anyhow. They do seem to be pretty straight and at 560gn/shaft they should sink deep once a big ole ACE express goes up front.Well thats what I would do if it was me.
