I just traded for a Schultz Trophy Hunter longbow, 55#@27" and 69" long.  4 lams bamboo with brown glass belly and back.  Not positive what the riser wood is, but I believe it is myrtle.  Pretty nice looking bow and shoots pretty nicely as well.  This bow is the first Hill style bow that I have gotten, other than my Howard Hill Rogue that is around 95# @ 29" and 68" long, even though it is listed as 80#@27".  I got the rogue for a training bow, and decided to try one out that was a little lighter in draw weight. Here are some pics of them.

I don't know if the pics will show it well, but here are some of the differences that I see in the bows.  The Schultz as a little finer taper to the tips and narrower limb profile, although I don't know how much of that is due to the differences in draw weight.  The Schultz has a deeper core that the Hill, despite the draw weight.  The grips are different, even though you can't see that in the pics.  My Hill has a contoured grip that tapers almost to a point at the palm, which really puts me in the right grip position.  They both shoot really nice, but the differences in draw weights makes it difficult to compare them adequately.  I would have to say that I prefer the grip on my Hill better but I am going to reserve final judgement for a while.

I was going to tell you to send the bow to me and I'll compare them but the shelf is on the wrong side:^(

Nice looking bows,

Nice pair!

It may be an optical illusion but is one riser considerably longer than the other?

Easy to look at both! Perfect for your 3-d & some good hunting. There's some extra special in that Schulz, Hill too. Thanks for the pix.

Mudd, I think the Hill riser is a bit longer. I'll take a better look when I get home.

Very nice Pat. Hope all is well with you. Enjoy those nice longbows.

Hey Jerry, I saw that you got a pretty nice dual shelf longbow.  PM some contact info on the maker if you get a chance.  Did you see my chickens in the background, lol.  I even have names for them.  They come and beg for food when I shoot my bows.  I should train them to retrieve the arrows.

That Schulz is nearly the same as my old one ...... a sweet bow made by one of my "hero's"  ... Nice one Pat ! Now I want pics afield !

Sweet Pat !! I knew you'd come around to the long, straight, skinny ones ... Oh Oh, that didn't even sound right !!! But you know what I mean ....

pdk25

Thanks guys. Mudd, the riser is in fact a little longer. Not too much, though. Adam, it is probably just a phase. I do love how quiet they are.  Ben, I am just trying to get more bows that they will let me into Australia with.

Thanksgiving, Mike. Probably not. The Hill is a little heavier than I am comfortable with for hunting for right now anyway. Dave said it is pretty thick, so I am probably bringing my new thunderchild and the shrew safari.

Both bows are awesome, congrats. Waiting on my new tembo to come in, looking at those pics of your bows has got me pumped.

I had a couple of people ask me what the riser material was on the Rogue.  I talked to Craig and found out that he made the bow in the 80's, and used figured Tamboti for the riser.  I had never even heard of that wood before he told me.
