Exceptional bull congratulations! A real special occasion especially to have shared with your father. That is a memory that will last a lifetime.
You mentioned you called him in. Did you use a bugle or cow call?

hey vintage archer, i called him in that morning to 6 yards, using bugling and a LOT of commotion, but didnt get a shot off.  when i finally got him that night, it was a sneak affair.  he bugled twice and went to feeding in a small park, surrounded by thick woods but i stumbled into a shooting lane.  to be honest the morning call in hunt was more exciting than killing him ended up being.

here is a pic of a herd the day before the opener, with a dandy bull in front.  we were on him that day hard but too many eyes won out.

is it September yet??

huntnmuleys

heres another dandy i almost got a chance at, but he went by me below the herd on the way to bedding.   so close, yet so far away.....

another try on the herd the day before opening day.

heres a nice pic of my bighorn recurve.  if bows could talk....

this rub was wayyyy fresh.  i called in a nice bull that morning but no shot, just not close enough.  this was right in his bedroom.  looked like a dandy 6 x 5.

and one more, this pic was taken on the 3rd of september, just minutes before i shot under a nice 5 point. i was very frustrated when i missed (he was further than i thought, actually outside of my shooting range by a few steps) but it really paid off in the end!
is it September yet??
