I have always used a tab with a soft spacer but they are gettig harder to find. What are the advantages / disadvantages of using a tab without the spacer? Do you think it will affect my shooting much in making the change?
One stick, one string and an arrow I'll fling!

I like a spacer
Check Bateman tabs
They are super tabs
A world of opportunities awaits upwind but nothing waits downwind.

Once you are adjusted to no spacer you will be fine. When placing your index finger on the string make sure you leave a space between finger and nock before drawing. I still like to use Neet PinchFree Tab Superleather. It helps to ward off the callous  :( .

I've used tabs both ways,it really doesn't matter to me.My Bateman has a spacer and my Cavalier has a spacer but I took it off my Cavalier and prefer it that way.Try one a spacer and without and see which way you like better.

I used to buy fairly expensive multi layered tabs with spacers. I always kept a few "home cut" tabs of 3-5 ounce leather in my pack just in case, and ended up using one after dropping my tab in the dark. I love them, simple cheap, and the best feel and release I've used. Similar to a cordovan tab, just a lot cheaper. I oil them heavily and the string "polishes" them with use.

I use my cavalier with no spacer and it works fine.

Night Wing

I use a Bateman split finger tab with a spacer and have for the last 30 plus years.

i prefer the no spacer, but lost the one i had and still had 2 older tabs with the spacer, and since i shoot em fairly similarly (only prefer the spacer free for feel) im using them until they wear out, or i lose them as well!
is it September yet??

Raging Water

I gotta say, I really like the spacer. Shot them both, with and without, and I prefer the spacer.
