Wish I had some good ones Randy.  Kind of told ya about all the ones that were "that" close.  Took my 9 yr old son out with me for 5 days and he had a blast.  Got see one of my hunting partners zip a doe but it was with wheels.  I will say it is quite fun to be with two wheel hunters and have my boy poke fun at them while he is zipping arrows with his Maddog.

"When you old men going to grow up and loose those training wheels?"
"Ya know, a real man doesn't need all those fancy things hanging off that metal boat anchor yal got to hit anything"
"Why yal looking at your bow like it did something wrong, ya missed the dang target!  Want me to get you a mirror"  LOL  I really dont know where he gets that stuff.  Must have been you Randy.  Maybe at one of the 3d shoots.

It was fun though.  Got REAL close to a nice 6x6 but just couldn't close the deal.  Heat out there made things tough this yr.  Still beats work!

Oh I almost forgot about the best story.

I have know discovered that my 60lb dryad is way under powered to hunt with.  Yea it may be good for elk and deer but against the blue grouse it doesn't have the power to put them down.  I twice shot grouse that decided that after they had 670gr of arrow in them with a judo they were still ok to take off and fly to some distant corner of the mountain where I would never find them, taking my beman arrow with them.

Sounds like your boy has some attitude.  maybe he'll get your buddies to come on over.  Sounds like a great trip.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Them Grouse are tough.  I would never have taught Him to give those guys a hard time ha ha.

Your boy sounds pretty cool! I'll bet those fellas enjoyed being razzed by him.

Glad you had a safe, fun trip. Being out there with your boy, Elk or not, was a Treasured Experience.
