This hunt actually started with this years St Judes auction.  i was able to win one of the VPA terminators that KentuckyTJ had up for auction to honor Chris Surtees memory.
i took it in my quiver a few times this summer hog hunting, but the opportunity to use it never presented itself. Deer season opened this past Saturday, and my best hunting buddy (Clyde Musick) and i were able to get together and hunt all weekend.
Saturday morning was pretty uneventful.  Clyde saw some does, but wasn't able to get a shot. All i saw was a bunch of squirrels.

We probably got on the stand a little early Saturday, but we were both excited about the first day of deer season.  It got warm in a hurry, but luckily i didn't have to fire up the thermacell.
Clyde texted me about an hour before dark and said he had shot a doe and watched her go down.  That got me even more excited about the possibility of seeing a deer before dark.
About 5 minutes before dark, i decided to climb down and go help Clyde with his deer.
i had just taken my pack down and sat it on my seat when i heard footsteps crunching thru the leaves.
i glanced over my shoulder, and there were two mature does coming down the trail next to my stand. i was able to slowly turn around and get my bow in my hand without spooking them.
Right at last shooting light one of the does finally offered me a shot which i promptly took!
The doe took off on a death run that ended after about 75 yards.
Thanks for the mojo Chris....    :)

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.
