I have felt limb pads under limbs on my new bow. Should I waterproof them if planning to hunt in rain?  What to use? Don't want anything to hurt the finish.

Could probably try some scotchguard or some silicon based spray they use for waterproofing boots. Never done it, but I would think that would work.

I'd talk to the bowyer, and be inclined to replace the felt with something different like string wax.

I think Bjorn is on the right track. How about melting some string wax and soaking your felt pads in the melted wax. I think that might work.

I have the same thing, and was wondering about switching out the felt for cork.

Something that worked really well for me for a limb pad was a bicycle tire inner tube. I cut it to length then split it and trace around my riser for limb bolt holes ect. Very quiet and waterproof .... good luck

I have used felt on my limb pads for years with no problems.  I always figured if the finish was good enough on the rest of the riser why not the limb pads.  That said I now put glass on the limb pads and felt on the glass, I think it looks good and helps with noise a bit.

Jake, Bill told me what to do and I forgot what he said how to waterproof the felt is why I'm asking. He and Tracy are in Wisconsin on a week long hunting trip until Wednesday or so.

Elkken, good idea. That would work well I'd think. I've always liked cork. No worries with water with them.

I have had 2 bows that had very thin cork that was used for the limb pads..... as waterproof as it gets!

Tom, I would be glad to call Bill for you tomorrow. I don't mind harrasing him while I am working and he is out goofing off riding all over the country hunting! I'm sure he would do the same to me  :D  

I agree with Jess. I would just take it apart, let it dry out and "oil" up any metal parts before I put it back together.
