WELCOME! Find a flee market or some garage sales and get a bow with min 40lb draw with straight limbs. U'll find a cheap deal out there. You don't need an expensive bow to kill game. Good luck!

Welcome to the crowd!  It's a pretty cool group here.

If you're interested I can hook you up with a Bear Montana Longbow, arm guard, and tab for $175.  I'll pay the shipping out to you.  Send me a PM if you're interested.  I'm pretty new myself and have gotten help from some guys here, so I am more than happy to pass it along and help you out.  Just let me know.  And, again, welcome!

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

if i shoot a 71 pound compound what do you guys think a good trad bow weight would be?
a seahorse is not a horse, and a crossbow is not a bow.

Longrifleman

Don't start with anything over 45 lbs at your draw length. It's plenty powerful to kill anything on the continent, except for maybe moose, bison, and grizzly, and it is light enough for you to find your best shooting form. Almost everyone, (me included) started out with a bow that was too heavy. That will make it more difficult to learn how to shoot properly.
