Hello, Everyone,

I've been looking to add a nice new traditional bow to my collection, and I was hoping to get some assistance re. potential makers/brands. I've done a lot of looking around on the good ol' interweb, and I've read a fair amount of threads on various forums, but all I've found are general recommendations of individual brands. What I'm really hoping to find is a good comprehensive listing of traditional bow makers so I can just go down the list and check them all out one by one and make a decision.

I asked about this on another forum, and I was referred here as this forum's members likely have more experience and knowledge about traditional archery and y'all are more likely to have already gotten together on a thread and listed a bunch of these guys out. I hope that's the case!

I did search around and didn't find anything like this here, but I apologize if I just missed it.... I only got my membership to Tradgang today, and I'm not all that familiar with the site yet.

Oh, in case it helps, the types of bows I'm interested in are a traditional-grip Hill-style longbow (straight limbs, straight grip), and recurves.

Moving to PowWow

Pick up a copy of Traditional Bowhunter or Trad Archers World magazine.  Most current day builders advertise in them.

There used to be a site on the web that listed all of the current bowyers with their web addresses, but it is no longer there. As said above, check the sponser's list on here.

Chuck Deshler, TwoTracks, has a new Hill style longbow that he is working on.

The more you research the more confused you will get, bottom line is there are many great bowyers to choose from. First thing is to settle on a budget and go from there. The other is go with a bowyer that has been around for awhile and has a solid track record. If he has been in business for some time chances are the product is good. Visit every Sponsor site here and give them a call or send an email, you'll learn much just by that.

Look at the top of the page, right above the "tradgang store" banner, there is a bow maker list.
