Are any of you blokes having difficulty getting your arrows to fly straight?

It seems like that is a common problem for me latley. But I will get over it soon. I hope.

You East Coaster's chime in.  Waiting to hear from Stringstretcher in Virginia.  Hell of a week for him with the earthquake as well.

Yep, we had an earthquake a few days ago, and now a hurricane. All is well here in central Va, just a lot of wind and a little rain.

Allen....just heard from Charlie and he says the same thing....even has power like you....lol.

Ben,  I live on the North East coast of Virginia.  As a die hard archer I just had to 'shoot and arrow into a hurricane"...   As usual, the wife looked outside in horror as I was standing in the back yard, wind howling and the rain coming down sideways, bow in hand with arrow knocked.  I took a few shots at 30 yards and was surprised to see the arrows didn't move that far off their mark!  Wife threatened to call the authorities and have me committed to a mental institution if I didn't come back inside so that's all I could shoot before hanging up the bow.  

If I could have gotten outside fast enough a few days ago, I would have shot a few arrows during the earthquake too...  Yeah, I am just not right sometimes.  

Seriously, we are fortunate here.  We didn't lose power and the trees around our home held up to the high winds and saturated soil.   Some of my fellow Virginians were not so fortunate.  100,000 without power last I heard, a few deaths from trees falling onto homes, lots of flooding.  Prayers going out to those families.  Steve

Hey, all you East Coasters'. Send some of Irene's rain down Texas way. Yesterday's high temperature at my house was 108 degrees.

We had a shoot at our club yesterday to raise money for families of law enforcement's fallen.
Got done as the rain started in earnest, then shot some running buck... that is NOT a shot I will attempt on game!

We lost power last night, but it just came on about twenty minutes ago. Not Bad! Now, what to do with all this ice...    

Ah, the two growlers I filled Friday will go nicely in the coolers.   :D

We had no monopoly on earthquakes, either. Colorado had a 5.2, among many others, West Virginia had a minor one, and has anybody looked at the USGS map of all the quakes in Alaska?

Structural damage on many monuments, the National Cathedral and the Treasury building, these are troublesome but we got off lucky.

just waiting to ,ose power here, winds are crazy and i'm watching trees and brances snap in the back yard, nothing in striking distance of the house so i'm enjoying the show, the dogs not so much!!!!

Ken did you get those stands cleared and moved you were talking about in another thread? Hopefully not or you would be going back to redo right.

nope in fact i'm waiting untill next week now to see whats going on.

Night Wing be very careful what you wish for! You may get it yet, the hurricane season is still very young and I bet those Gulf waters are mighty warm this year! Hope you just get the water you need, not exceeed.

Our weather forecasters say the high pressure ridge that's been sitting on top of us since the start of June is too strong to let a hurricane hit us where I live near the upper Texas coast.

Once a tropical storm or hurricane gets into the Gufl of Mexico, if it manages to get into the Gulf of Mexico, the high pressure ridge will divert it due west where it will impact Mexico or it will divert it northeast where the state of Florida will get hit.

To make matters worse, yesterday's high temperature was 108 degrees where I live and today's high is forecasted to be 109 degrees.

Right now in Texas, we'd take some cloud cover from some far away storm to get some relief from these wicked high temperatures.

Wasn't too bad down here, wind got up pretty good through the night. Expected to see lots of trees down but I looked up and down the street and luckily only some sizable limbs ( I wonder if any are good for the bow makers ) at any rate, besides the flooding I am hearing about, we came out O.K.

Only bad part is I have to go into work to make a showing, even though everything is shut down, it should make for an interesting drive.

I don't know how in the world you guys can stand the heat down there! I'd die. I used to go to Texas to play baseball years ago and thought anybody living in that heat was nuts. Heck we complain up here if it goes past 85. Heck it's about 75 outside right now and I got the air conditioner cranking. I do have an insulation layer though. But when it's 20 out I'm in heaven!

Lost power from around 3 AM till 11 AM, a little water in the garage but nothig too bad. There's a very small creek that flows by my house... that sounds like the Colorado river rapids right now. I put a spackle bucket on the deck when it started raining, looks like about 7" in there now.
