as some of u know i am a big fan of J.D berry bows, but i have been shooting straight limb bows for a while. and i wanted one built buy James, since every other bow i have ever got from him has been amazing. he doesnt have anything about it on his website, but since he has been building bows for thirty years he had a form that he used from the 80's so i talked him into building me one. i dont even know what to say about this bow, it is incredible. Absolutly no shock, limbs are a beautiful trapzoided elm with a riser of bubinga. this bow is almost straight with very little setback. very smooth to draw aswell. and very quick for the style. all i can say is James has done it again. so proud of my new bow.  roy should be adding some pics soon. "thats your que roy" ohhhhhh yeah 66" long 52# @ 28. shoots my dougy firs with some speed and force, Arrows where moving my target this morning

Looks kinda like my Argos. Not a flame thrower but a good shooting bow.

Finally another Vixen owner! I have one that I bought in 2005 used. It was made in 2000. I have been pretty rough on it hunting in the brush around here but it has held up well.  Mine is 66" 57#@28" and loves heavy wood arrows.  It also has trapped limbs and very delicate limb tips with no overlays, just wedges. Mine has a dished grip and 3 lams of yew.  I will never sell this bow. Nice bow Shawn. James makes a sweet bow and is a nice guy to visit with. Congratulations on a nice Hill style bow!

this bow is by far one of the finest american styles i have ever shot. the first shot i shot 2 foot above my target, sucker has some cast. now im drilling it in there. @ mike nova, i have an argos too, i would almost say this sucker is faster. lol now i have no numbers to base that on though. but i am very impressed with this bow. afraid its going hunting this years instead of my shelton. @okie man, all my other berrys are all yew, so i kinda wanted to try red elm since i loved it so much on my Northern Mist shelton. i do like the elm alot, but i am allready planing another one and it will be all yew with black glass.

That's what I thought too Mudd but, since I didn't know how, I kept my mouth shut. Mr. Berry makes a fine Hill style bow. Shawn what was James backlog like? The last time I checked a year ago he said 4 months to get a Vixen.

randy i believe it is 3 to 4 months. i just love the slime design of this bow, i drew him a picture and diagram of how i wanted the handle and he nailed it like always, i call it a deep dish " not to be confused with a pizza". really sucks my hand in. i just cant say enough about this bow. i like it more than any other hill style i have ever shot or owned, and thats quite a few. it even tops my northern mist shelton, which was a hard bow to nock of the top. like i said, allready working up ideas on how to get another lol.

I found that my Vixen is cut 7/16" past center which causes me to use a pretty weak arrow.  My bow is pretty slim at around 1 1/4" wide at the fades so I see why he had to leave some meat there. I have some doug fir, cedars, and hexpine arrows that and the Vixen likes them all.  It is a fine Hill style bow.  I had a NM Shelton but couldn't get used to the small grip. If I had thought about it I would have tried to beef it up before I gave up and sold it. You are the only other person I have seen with a Vixen.  I know James had to sell a ton of these.  I would like to have another. Mine has a Myrtle riser and limb veneeers under clear glass with 3 lams of yew. Enjoy your bow and let me know how she shoots.

Shwan you really get me start to interest in Hill style bow.  I was never a fan before but will like to start that with James.  I have heard that red elm makes very good lamination and shoots fast.  Did you pick it?

yes ming i chose the red elm, i have had it in several bows, it has a real crisp feel to it kinda like yew. i however do love yew bows, and my next one i get from james will have all yew, lol we have allready been talking about it. but i am very impressed with red elm i have liked it on every bow i have had.
