Mr. Hills

I am looking for some snake skins to put on my bow. I am thinking black or black with gray. I like the looks of a juvenile black rat snake but it seems like they change as they get older and loose most of the contrast in their markings. Any ideas on a type of snake and where to get the skins???? ..... My bow is mostly black with osage in the riser, so i don't really want to incorporate to much color. My limbs are pretty narrow and about 30 inches a piece.

I would take a look at Prairie rattlesnake. Take
a look at AmericanHeadhunter.com or Pine Hollow Longbows which I believe is a sponsor here you can find on the search option. I would check him
first actually. I got a nice, nice skin from him.
Make certain your exhausted when you reach them Pearly Gates.

I like both of those snakes! Thank you guys for the guidance! I am finding that skins are not as easy to find as I thought they would be. I guess that the giant catalog of all different kinds of snake skins to choose from just does not exist!!! Go figure.

Pine Hollow Longbows, I just got a pair of Western Diamondback. I ask for a pair that were black and grey in color and they were perfect. Very nice skins.

The best time of year to find skins is in the spring and early summer.  I got mine from snakewood3 here on TG.

Here's mine.  Cottonmouth over dark gray limbs.

Rat snakes come in lots of diffrent colors. They make good skins for bows because they are long, often only one snake needed, and they are narrow so you get most of the pattern. Here are three diffrent rat snakes, one on my bow and two other skins.
