I put together a jig last night and am going to make up a few strings. I have one questions.  Do you set the jig for the exact length of string you want or do you set it slightly short to allow a little stretch - if so, how much?

Thanks.

Set it for the correct length of string. If it stretches a little then you can twist it a little to get your correct brace height.

When I make an endless B50 I usally make it 3/8" to 1/2" shorter to allow alittle stretch.

Differing opinions, so what if it is a modern "fast flight" string material.

With FF type material I make the string the exactly the length I need. The manufactures say it want stretch, I've found out better. For B-50 I tend to make the string 1" shorter.

Depends on the string material.  With dacron, I make it a bit shorter to allow for stretch, with FF type materials I make it a tad long to allow for a little bit of twist.

Thanks everybody.  I will make one that is the exact length and see how it works.
