Whip, I'm with BowMike.  I think you will be disappointed having spent all that money and only getting to hunt after rifle season when the hunting is really tough.  At least it is tough in my area.  A couple of years ago, I hunted morning and evenings for six days after rifle season and only saw one doe.

Joe, sounds as if we could have the place to ourselves. How does bitter cold in Kansas compare to bitterly cold in Wisconsin!   ;)

:biglaugh:
I like you way of thinking Smoke. Lemonade.
i hope to be done by then but maybe I will need to go back in Dec also.
Good luck to you and Joe.

It could be zero or below and sometimes up to 40 mph winds. Many years I can't get myself to go out after rifle season. Low deer movement and COLD!!

Whip

Yep, it could be cold.  And of course if it does end up below zero with 40 mph winds we will have it rough.  But it might not be that cold, and our chances of filling that Kansas tag are better if we go than if we stay home   ;)

In the end, it is not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. Abraham Lincoln.

That's right Whip, I've never shot one from the couch! A few years ago I shot my Kansas buck on the last hour of hunting on December 31st. Just never say I give up! It was snowing so hard I couldn't see over 20 yards at times that evening. Went out 88 times that year and shot the smallest buck I saw all season. Should have looked behind a tree ( there's a monster buck behind every tree in Kansas I've been told) LOL
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

the cold isn't to bad till that wind hits then it's bad out here i know you fellas get it real cold up there so it should be a picnic for ya

Is the Fall Hunting Atlas only available online?

Jake Fr

i dont believe so you should be able to pic it up at wally world or other locations where they sale license at

2treks

When I talked to the girl at FW&P she said the atlas should be printed by the end of AUG.

My trip is getting of to a ruff start pretty fast. I may end up running solo. I hope the Atlas has some public/walk-in hunting maps in it.
I guess the good thing about not having sombody with me is that I can go anyplace in the unit now.
