Any suggestions for a lightweight waterproof snake boot?

What is a good height?

The taller snake boots are hotter & too hot to wear here. When cold, snakes aren't a problem anyway. JimB bought lite traction boots (see his thread). Add snake guards (plastic, cordura, or leather) & you're done. Not 100% but close. How much heat can you take to guarantee no skin puncture? Any boot rated "snake boot" will stop any fangs. Guess that may not be such a good answer. Just my experience & I stepped on a few.

Three years ago I bought a pair of Rocky Snake Boots. Since then I've worn the dickens out of them. They are a little stiff when new, so I did my walking in them for a week or so. They broke in nicely. I wear two pair of socks with mine. A thin liner and a thicker pair and tuck my pant leg inside the boot and lace them up. When the critters are out, it is usually pretty warm and so are the boots.

I own two pair both are Chippy's. The first is a pull on, the classic style with the leather lower and cordura upper. They are reasonably cool and very light. My second pair , is the Lace Up , waterproof kind, they have a Leather Lower and a leather /cordura upper. Much warmer and heavier then the others. I like them both for different reasons, and I wear both year round . Besides snakes here in Tejas, there are many thorny bushes and cactus, can't tell you how many times my calfskin have been saved by these boots. In any case, this may or may not have helped much, but it's what I have expierenced. Tu Compadres, Sutty
