Ron, I've seen ya shoot alot over the years and that looks like a typical shot for you my friend. A great shot, but thats par for you.

That reminds me of a cartoon show once when Daffy Duck was boxing with a kangaroo... upon receiving a good shot to the face, Daffy exclaims "a lucky punch"... upon immediately receiving a second punch, he states "another lucky punch"... when he quickly gets hit by a third, he comes out with "@#$%! how lucky can a guy get"!

So, me thinks... a whole lot of instinctive skill and very little luck!

Good thing you had sufficient poundage on that bow.

BTW - looks like it made the minimum cutoff for P&Y.

That is cool Ron....

I shot a mouse at Ray's Hog Haven once....I was on my knees and had the bow almost horizontal and inches from the ground...this rat was fat to say the least as he was a 'corn raider' and ran off Ray's four wheeler after corn left over from filling up the feeders. We pulled up and I saw him jump out of the 4 wheeler and run under the trailer and I got my bow out...knelt way down at the end of the deck, immediately spotted him, and shot almost all in one motion.

I wish I'd have taken a picture....like you did....as that mouse was a trophy for sure...especially the considering the shot I made on him.

Thanks for sharing that....dang I wish I'd have taken a pick of that fat mouse!!!

I also shot a boring bumble bee out of the air once at Ray's that was attacking the decks rafters....would have taken a pic, but the bee spattered on impact!....needed a video to capture that one.

Got a lot of memories at Ray's besides just hogs and fellowship.

I was hog hunting a couple of years ago with a wheel shooting friend. We were walking out on a pipe line and there was a log 150 yards down the cut over with a knot hole in it.
I told him i was going to put an arrow in the knot hole. He kinda laughed. I drew and let it rip. Perfect center in the 3 inch hole at 150 yards. I was more surprised than him, but I never let him know. He was blown away, talked about it for months. He bought a recurve from me a few months later.
I hope he never ask me to do it again!

Hi All,

Once upon a time I was supposed to be deer hunting when a chipmonk popped up on a log about ten feet from where I was standing. I drew and put an arrow exactly where he "had been" standing, as I watched him do a back flip over the arrow. Never went 'monk hunting again. :-)

Mine was a thirteen lined ground squirrel in my yard.

My kids had been after the buggers for the entire summer, and I was amazed at the squirrel`s ability to jump the string. My then, eleven yr old son says to me..."dad, you don`t shoot AT them, you shoot where they are gonna be"...so I adjusted my concentration, and my Judo point ripped the bugger in half at twenty yards.

I`m STILL impressed with myself!

It was a still shot, not a running one like yours Ron. However, the archer was only 10 yrs old with his first ever selfbow that was only hours old and it did take two shots. Missed that little copperhead by the least bit the first shot. Saved his Dad's behind that is for sure, almost stepped on him.

His hair and stature has grown long since that day I would say !!!
