I am trading for a new LH Bear-Take down riser and am trying to decide which direction to go on the limbs.  I have decided not to go with the old non-FF limbs.  So here are the choices that I am familar with:

1)  New FF limbs by Bear
2)  Custom limbs by Jim Gainey - Black Creek Bows
3)  Custom limbs by Brandon Stal
4)  Custom limbs by RER

If there are some Bear TD experts that could discuss the pros/cons of the above, I would be greatful.

If you want performance - Brandon Stall

If you want nostalgia - Bear
62" Super D, 47#s @ 25-1/2"
58" TS Mag, 53#s @ 26"
56" Bighorn, 46#s @ 26.5"

If you can't wait look into 3 Rivers, I think they carry them.

Brandon Stal - hands down. But be prepared to wait.

JimB

Brandon Stahl. An option would be to buy the Bear limbs,Order Brandon's and sell the Bear limbs later, assuming you may not want to wait for the Rose Oaks in order to shoot your bow.

I sold 3 sets of Bear limbs after getting mine from Brandon.I shot that bow a little today and it is  the quietest most dead in the hand bow I've ever owned, and fast.

I haven't shot the RER's or Black Creeks.

What length bow do you want to end up with?? Some of these mention boyers make Number #1 & #3 limbs only. I think Shaffer and RER make # 2.....I could be wrong and you may want to check to see what's being offered..........mooseman

I'm no expert but did the same thing this spring.I've been shooting my greenstripe with red tip limbs,46# and ordered a set of brandens for hunting 53# but with the wait, had to get a new set of bears 55#.I have to say I really like the new ones(bears) and will keep them for backups and probably camo white for snow hunting here in pa.I got them from big jim.3 rivers are on back order with a list.  Dan

I also have a set of Brandons #1 limbs and they are great.  Name should have read mooseran

I am currently REALLY liking my Schafers...

I've shot quite a few, like most of them. Roseoaks are the prettiest and best finish.Wouldn't rate the last generation of Bear (big white and black tips)as great.New ones are Ok but finish is mediocre.

OBXarcher

I have old green tips, RER and the new red tips. I shoot b-50 on all of them.

The RER are very nice and faster.

The new ones are very good too. I would not hesitate buying another set of them.

Cherokee Scout

No one is speaking up for BlackCreeks limbs because he is just now beginning to make these. He has only 2 sets out there, both are prototypes. When more people see his final product, they will like the limbs and the price.

I've owned the new Bear limbs, Supreme Bear Limbs, older non-FF Bears and Rose Oaks.  Unfortunately, I moved the new Bear limbs before I obtained a chronograph.

I think of those I list above the Rose Oaks are the highest performers. However, I would not be surprised if the new FF Bears are the best Bear has made and are so close (in performance) to the Rose Oaks that it doesn't matter.

I have one of the new Bear takedowns.  My limbs are marked 45 pounds and give me 48 at my draw length of 29".  I am shooting GT 35/55's that weigh 454 grains for 9 1/2 grains per pound.  Mine is running through the chronograph at 180 f.p.s.  Not a speed demon but not too shabby when compared to most of my other bows either.

As an aside... I noticed the top limb has a slight twist.  Nothing major, just the string is not following back into the groove perfectly each time.  I could probably fix it easily as I have done on several of my older bows but decided to call Bear and see what they had to say.  A really nice guy in customer service told me they would take care of it.  He put me on the list to move up some so I don't have to wait the 10-12 weeks limbs are taking at the present time and gave me a return authorization number to send my other limbs back.  No questions and no problems.  I was pretty happy with the experience and looking forward to the new limbs.

I like 62" bows so it's RER for me.

Thanks much, I am trying to locate a good set of used #1 or #2 limbs in the 50 - 54 lbs. range at 28".

Great feedback from everyone and much appreciated.

I've got 2 sets of RER limbs...Kevin will not let you down...comfortable out to 31" and blazing fast..

RVTV,

I just got my TD today and it has a 1" plus twist in the upper limb. How did you make out with Bear? I am calling them tomorrow for an RMA #.
