Fort Stewart implemented a Bow Certification Test for this Hunting Season. The initial test consisted of 2/3 shots at 20 and 30 yards from an elevated position. This was developed without consideration of the TG'er.
After many phone calls and emails, I finally convinced the authorities to amend the test for TG'ers. The new test for TG'ers will be 2/3 shots @ 15 and 20 yards shooting from on the ground or a elevated platform 10 feet high. The new standard will only be communicated verbally until the  beaurocracy catches up with a Reg change.
A world of opportunities awaits upwind but nothing waits downwind.

Good news for Ft. Stewart hunters. 20 yds is still going to be a stretch for some newbies like myself.

Good Job WhiteOak.

Bun Bun....well....try and look at it in  a positive light...the longest shot now has been shortened by 33%.

And, some things you just gotta work for.

I agree 100%. Not planning to take a 20yd shot this year. I'm comfortable at 15 or less. But it is amazing the difference five yards can make....two yards for that matter.  :D

Outstanding!  Nice job representing us and doing so in a respectful manner.  Ft. Stewert is still a possibility.  Thanks for the work!

It is people like you, that make a difference.  thanks for all your persistence and hard work!  I don't hunt over there, but the whole idea of people making decisions that affect others, without thinking through the consequences, really heats me up!!

We can only hope that other areas follow Fort Stewart. I live in BC and we have no certification which is a scary thought. I can only hope some day we get a certification for bow hunters in my area. Lets hope it lowers the numbers of wounded animals running around in the bush, makes us all look bad.
Good job on the 15-20!

Man,thanks for your effort I was disapointed to hear of the 30 yard shot from 25 ft up. 20 yards and 10 ft up is a very real and reasonable distance that most should be able to do. I have never hunted Ft Stewart but have a couple guys that I think will come down to hunt with me this year. Thanks again....

Good on you Whiteoaks, you did a good thing for trad hunters. I wonder if this will spread and eventually be adopted by all federal and state land managers?

Whiteoaks,

Thank-you for all your hard work and effort.  You have shown that one man can make a difference.  Good job!
