I'll be coming back to the states around early December. I will have missed all of deer season up until then due to this deployment.

I'd like to get a hunt in when I come back. Any recommendations for this time of year?

There is an area in southern WV covering 3 counties that are archery only. Someone that lives in that area might be able to offer more information. It covers Wyoming, Mingo, and Logan counties. They should have their season open pretty late. My wife is from that area.

When you come back brother look me up if you want to hunt there. I'll help ya out. I grew up there and know a few spots.

I don't know how late the Oklahoma season runs, but you could hop across into Arkansas as ours runs through Feb.  Then again, we'll have had fifteen hundred dozen different and assorted types of gun seasons by then, so all the deer will be lightsteeping, spooky, nocturnal wraiths.  Late season in Arkansas sometimes turns into an excuse to watch sunrise and sunset and have a cup of coffee in the woods.
Silence is golden.

Jim, I've still got my spot you hunted on a few years ago. Give me a shout when you get home an I'll put you in a tree. And thanks for your service!

Jim, you're welcome down at my lease with me in Atoka county.  I'm the only bowhunter on on the 1400 acres so it'll probably just be me and you.  You can bring a stand or use one of my brush blinds.  The hogs are scarce since it got so dry but the deer ain't gone anywhere.  Good catfishin in the lake too.

Thanks and be careful!

I can't offer you any help with a late season hunt, but I do want to thank you for your many years of serving our country.

Hunt, walk... roam... all in free (and clean) air mate. If game comes your way, then that is a bonus right there....

No place like home...

Going to prep the one place I do have to hunt near my home. That way it will be ready for me to climb in the tree when I get back.

I'm taking a takedown recurve and some arrows with me. They have stripped hyenas over there where I'm going. I may try to get a hunt in while I'm there LOL!
