Thanks MIke. How did you settle in that shape/size. I just had a custom Lil Chopper made that looks close to that. I'll be after you about your 200 year old secret, I always like to try something different as long as my guide doesn't mind. My good luck bait was pink Peeps, those sugar coated marshmallows! What size bears do you expect to see? Any color phase?

Good luck on your hunt.  I will be bear hunting myself in September here in my home state of Michigan.  My wife and I spent the day today setting up three bait sites and put up our tree stands.  We are baiting with sweets mostly.  Will be shooting a new VyperKhan longbow made for me by my brother Chris Cox of habu bows.  Arrows are 340 axis with weight tubes, 8gr an inch, 30 inch arrows.  Going to shoot a snuffer.

-owlbait- I just liked the shield is all. The size seemed to help steer my 160 snuffers best. Peter is really open about what we do to our own baits. I may get me a couple packs of those pinl peeps too!!!! No color phase but they say the bears are pretty big up that way. I'm looking for a 300 or better on this trip. We'll see soon enough.

-habujohn- Good luck to you and your wife as well.

This one is starting out very nicely buddy.

I too luv the preparation before the hunt.

The more you put into any adventure, the more you get out of it!

I have no doubt you'll do just fine!

Best of luck to you my friend!    :campfire:

Thanks Curt! Been looking forward to this for a while now. I just hope Sunny don't go after a wounded bear with his knife! :scared:lol You know about that first hand.haha

I figured a new hunt needed a new camera to go along with it. Those that know me know that I tinker with homebru trail cameras. So I decided to make an IR one for the trip. The cam has been tested and working good. Just need to add the 3d camo and it's ready. Hopefully I'll get some good bear pics to show you guys. The Pelican case should hold off the bear teeth.....I hope.

Pretty simple build. It's a Sony P-41 hacked IR. Attached to a Simple Sniper II board.

The bags are packed, killing the bull with my bow, and the beer is on ice. Sounds to me like we are ready to rock. Now if I can get Sunny to Ohio in one piece we will be in good shape.

Saturday morning and we'll be on our way!!!!

Should have a few more pics on Friday as things get closer.
