I have a green mountain classic longbow...does anyone know what the exact shelf cut is on these? I am curious but I do not believe that I am getting an accurate measurement?

I have a Green Mt. Longbow, Mine is the Catamount. The shelf looks to be only cut in 5/16 of an inch. Not the same model as your but I'd bet the farm they would be similar. Hope this helps.

I had 2 mountain hunters and they are not cut in very far to center.  Not sure on the exact measure.

it is 53# at 26.5 and I draw 26...my arrows are CE Predator !! 45/60 with 200 grain points for a total of just shy of 500 grains total

I have a Green Mountain Classic,I believe it is cut alittle more off center then most.Similar to a Hill,they don't have a large riser,probably 3/16" to maybe a 1/4".My Green Mountain likes a lighter spine then most of my other longbows.Never used a calculator,always preferred to do my own tuning.It is one of my favorite longbows,it is one of my keeper's.

Heck my GM has no shelve !!

400 spine?  Assuming that your arrow is 27-28" long. That is way too stiff of a spine (unless you add say 500 grains to the point). You need a 600 spine with that short of arrow.  IMO....I have not had any luck with Stu's calculator with carbons. That may just be me though. I am an odd duck anyways.

I'm shooting cedars ,so I can't help you much. But I ues 60-65 cedars full length 125 up front!

Well the carbons are just to tide me over until I get my next batch of wood shafts...I am gonna order a chundoo test kit and give those a shot. Woodies are what I am really enjoying. As for the length, my carbons are left full length to compensate for the stiff spine so they are just over 30" bop. still stiff but shootable for now. I really need the 30/50's but would rather invest in more woodies.

Yeah, they should work for now. I would get as heavy of a point as you can with them.

great on the test kit. I am not that much on bareshafting though because I shoot a sub par group. I try though but dont get overly excited about it.

50-55 @ 27.5" with 125 point should be pretty close for you. Maybe a little off but not much. Should be able to get the correct arrow length for good flight.

My Green Mountain is 61#@27 and for POC it loves 55-59# cut at 28" with 125 gr. point.Now for carbons I shoot Beman MFX Classic 400 with 100 gr. inserts and 125 gr. point at 30" long.
