Well, we are about a month away from our season opener. I just picked up a few items from the local Wally world in preparation for the upcoming season.  In about two weeks I will start using only unscented bath soap and deodorant. I also will stop eating strong foods like garlic, onions or anything like that.

Do you guys have any odd preparation habits you think may improve success?

I start by being extra nice to the Wife and doing a lot of "honey do`s". wanna go to the beach dear? You know stuff like that .....cause in a few more weeks it may keep me out of the doghouse.RC

Not really, my bows are tuned, broadheads are sharp and I am shooting pretty good. I need to get my stands out and do some PMCS checks on them and my harness but overall I think I am about ready to go. Chris

Put in my two weeks notice at the present job about mid August and dig out the hunting clothes.
Silence is golden.

What RC said.  Sometimes it's not taken seriously enough.  If you can't go, you can't shoot'em.

I do the unscented soap thing, including my work kahkis cause for some reason I end up hunting or scouting in them.  Full backpack in the truck along with a bow (work truck).

Before I walk into the woods I always pick up a big handful of dirt, rub it together, smell it, and wipe it on my pants.  Been doin it as long as I can remember.

Drink less beer??? Now that is ODD. No deer is worth that.

For a couple of years I used to shampoo and shower with baking soda every time I went hunting. Probably helped with the human scent, but ended up with an oozing spot on my leg and had to go to the Dermatologist. He said my skin was SOOO dry. Took a while to recover.
Might have overdone a bit that time.

I am a scent control freak. Take chlorophyll tablets starting a few weeks before and bath in no scent soaps, seal all my clothes in scent proof containers. The one I really need to have is apple-flavored gum, I believe your breath is our biggest concern on stand, brush teeth and tongue before leaving the truck with baking soda and chew 3 pieces of apple gum while on stand, hows that for strange? I wash all my hunting clothes with a scent killer soap. Then I put them in a bag with fir boughs that are freshly cut off the tree out back. I also crush up some the fir needles and put in with them. I never wear my hunting clothes in camp where I cook. But I don't think these things are odd. Non-hunters would...but us hunters know it is a good thing!
Now if you said you put a hat on with deer ears on them and sprayed yourself with hoe-in-estrus scent that would get me thinking you might be a little odd!
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

Dig out the wool. Touch up the knives. Buy el-cheepo bag target and shoot only broadheads. I shoot only one arrow at a time an only 15 to 20 arrows a day. Scent control???... I stay clean, wear rubber boots and stay upwind.
Bowhunting is "KILL and EAT" not "Catch and Release".....Semper Fi!

I finish up a little "Short Night" for myself & spend some time getting used to it.  Then I hide it.

Last year my wife sold one of ya'll my bow while I was out.  I had left it stacked up with the rest of my inventory.
