History of a bow...

Well, I bought this bow used about 10 years ago. Morrison Cougar, 62", 52# @ 28". It was quite a bit lighter than the bows I was shooting at the time, but it was just to good looking to pass... Well, it shot well, but I had other bows of the same make that I could shoot better because of the heavier weight. So, I sold it... Still looked as good as she ever did, but wasn't getting used.

Well, a few years passed, and I got a hankering to get her back. I was working on my release with lighter bows and why not have a great looker for my "work" bow... So, after a bunch of E-Mails and PM's I found her again. She'd been through three other owners in the mean time but she was heading back. Well, she looked a bit different, but none the worse for wear. Still shot just as good as she ever did, but still on the light side for me to be consistent with.

Well, this past fall I sold her again... Basically the same reason as before... But, she ended up coming back into the fold... She shoots as good as she ever did, and even though she is lighter then the bows I usually shoot, I feel like she needs to stay in my bow rack until the end of time. Sure I'll take her out and shoot her on a regular basis, and even take her to the woods from time to time. But, after all we've been through I think we were meant to be together, plus I've got more money wrapped up in her then I have in any other bow I've ever owned.

Here are a few pics of her in her younger days... And, she looks as good today as she did then if I were to take the pics again.

That is definitely a great looking bow. That may be your goto bow as you get older. Pup

Shot her a bit yesterday, and took her out this morning. Morrison Cougar, 62", 55# @ 29", shooting a 30" Gold Tip 35/55 with 125 grain judos. Took this hoss of a vole at about 11 yards, hit solidly in the right lung.

Great story...and even more amazing because I was one of the previous owners a few years ago. I found it one of the quietest and most accurate bows I had ever owned...and have regretted selling it many times.

Congratulations on saving a pretty special bow! Nice to see it getting the appreciation it deserves.

Yep...I remember seeing those early pics...and saying to myself and on the thread....Dang that's a BEAUT....still is.

I got a morrison Cougar as well....not quite 10 years old though....7 I believe.

I think the two of you were made for each other! Of course, she is a very pretty and has great curves. Who wouldn't want to live with a beauty like that!!

That's not a vole! That's a rat!
And if that bow gets antsy, she's just about my size!

Vole or Rat, either one is a tough target, looks like you got a good shooting bow. Looks great too.

They are Voles... tail is to short for a rat, and the skulls are a bit different in shape. Rat is longer and leaner then the Vole. Rat tails are at least twice the length of a Voles...

Plus, you can see the tunneling activity/damage they are doing in the area...

Wouldn't matter if it was a rat, I would have flung an arrow at it anyway!
