Lee Robinson .

I certainly understand opinions may vary, but I would like to hear why you chose traditional archery.
Until next time...good shooting,

Target panic using sights kinda forced me here. Wish it would have happened 20 years ago.
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

When I started, a bow was a bent piece of wood, held in shape by a string. If I wanted to shoot a bow, that was the choice! I hadn't even heard of a compound until I saw Rambo & I certainly didn't think I'd ever get to shoot one.
I 'flirted' with shooting a compound for a couple of months, not seriousy, but it jut didn't seem like a bow to me. I've only ever bowhunted with traditional bows.

For me it was the challenge and the "romance" of getting close to game. When I started bowhunting at 13 I did so with a compound and sitting in a tree. Now I spot and stalk 95% of the time and the other 5% I still hunt. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I didn't harvest a deer last year (first year traditional) but I had more fun than I ever had. I also had more buck opportunities than I ever thought possible. I've always thought that a person has 1 chance at a trophy buck a year, sometimes I got him other times not. Last year alone I had around 10. Going traditional really made me slow down, enjoy the outdoor time I get to spend, and really hunt. No better way to hunt than with traditional equipment IMO.

I got tired of being a slave to pins and missing deer because of it lol.

For me, it was to pursue archery in what I consider its "pure" form. No gadgets. Simple. Make it, tune it, and go. Never needing to worry about losing a part, adjusting anything, etc. And if made right and cared for they can last a lifetime since there are no wearable parts.

I also like the smooth draw without sights and I believe shooting a "barebow" offers the most versatility of the bow...and I feel a good traditional bow is the best type of bow to shoot if one shoots in a barebow fashion.

That said, I am curious as to what attracts others to the sport...as I know we are all different.
Until next time...good shooting,

I started with home made sticks and strings as a little kid and then a fiberglass recurve at about 8 or 10 and then a "real" recurve (Pearson) to hunt deer with at 15.  Moved to compounds as they came about and now have just started to get into trad again because I wanted to make my own.  It's becoming a blast.
