I have been working on form all spring and summer, shooting a few pounds lighter, last 3 weeks shooting only my hunting bow and arrows, shooting bh's some also. Am seeing a ton of deer, as I thought I would, due to record mast crop last year. I have seen 3 brusier bucks in the past week, several small bucks and tons of does. The big bucks I saw were, 2 in front of 2 of my go to permanent natural blinds!! They still have a lot of growing to do, but all three are between 130-160 inches, I looked at them good through a spotting scope from 200 yds, estimated close, then took off 10 inches. I dont really worry about inches or book score, but seeing great bucks gets anybody fired up. Wife is getting fired up too. I have been working over my/her hunting equipment, set a couple of stands, cut some shooting lanes, sharpened broadheads, made new bow strings and strecthed them in. I cant wait, 7 weeks baby!

I'll be making a trip down to KY this year for fall turkey and I am looking forward to that. 'Been seeing some nice bucks up here too. It is great to have things to look forward to to slow down the passage of time.

Best of luck,

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

Yep, I forgot the turkeys, saw 3 flocks the other day around my corn field, at one time, lots of young ones with hens, and saw 3 gobblers together a week agon by the same blinds I saw the bucks by! I enjoy our fall turkey season nearly as much as the deer season.

I love the early season here is WI. It is beautiful and warm and the deer are undisturbed and predictable. Then later you have the rut and the cold weather hunting to look forward to. Almost like two seasons here...

Not me.  I am just hanging out.  I suppose in 77 days 11 hours, 58 min and 30 seconds I will be in the woods and have an arrow nocked and be ready for the opener here in Ohio. !

38 days I'll be sitting in my blind waiting for one of these, or both, as I have buck and doe tags.

Then on Sept 1st, watch out deer and elk, here I come.  :jumper:

We always open here in TN the last Sat in Sept. Usually in the 90's and misery with the skeeters and heat. I have tried to sit out the opener the last few years to keep from spooking them with all the extra scent but very hard to sit at home thinking someone else is out there huntin !

You know, I get so busy in the fall that I haven't hunted for the last 2 seasons now, and I really don't miss it.

Opener a little over a month away here, 8/15. Have 5 stands already hung. Excited! You have got to love it a lot to put up with the heat, mosquitoes, ticks, redbugs and snakes in the south. Hogs and deer beware.
