Hey all,

Thinking about getting a predator camo jacket for DEER hunting.

I'm torn between the green deception and the brown deception.

I'm not looking at the spring green as I believe it's too light of shades for when/where I hunt.

I'm in michigan and hunt hardwoods and pines.
Normally I'm hiding out in a pile of sticks. Often I can lay a few pine branches on the blind.

Inside I'm generally sitting at the base of a tree.

I understand how predator camo works and I'm sold on the concept.

Even though deer can't see color ( well maybe blue and yellow to a point ) I feel it is important to try to have the right shades to blend in when you "black and white" a photo.

The green is darker when you B&W it than the brown. and it seems the shades are better.

However the brown has much more break-up of your form because of the white in the pattern.

I'm a bit worried the white might flag me if I move a bit at the wrong time... or just plain attract attention. I've always been leery of wearing white when hunting whitetails. Let's face it their warning sign is a white tail...

What do you all think is the smartest way to go?
Hopefully someone here has some experience with both.

Thank you so much!

I think the brown would work well considering your background.

Here is a pic of one of my blinds...
This is with my current really noisy jacket..

same in B&W..

here's with green pred..

and the brown..

now the green in B&W..

and the brown in B&W..

You can see the brown breaks up the outline so much better, but boy that white is bright looking....     :help:

What do you say?

If they just made the stuff colored like my hat I'd be all set..lol

Thanks

After looking at the black and white photos, add a little distance of 10-20 yards and I vote for green deception.

I was told that if you get the brown you can darken the white parts with coffee and then vinegar to lock the colour in.
Thanks for your time

First off nice job inserting the shirts and changing to BB&W that would have taken me a LONG time.

The white serves a purpose look at the background in the photo where the sun makes it through the trees looks like spots of white which the brown to me is more realistic.  Just my observation and .02 cents.

Ive only used Predator Brown, Predator Fall Grey and ASAT.  So no actual field experience with the 2 you are asking about.

Nice job on the photos. I don't want to stir the pot, but I really like the Predator Deception. I have pants in that color and am amazed looking down at my legs. Had to pinch myself to make sure they were still there.

Nice work with the pics,  I don't think you could go wrong with eather the green or brown!

I use the brown a lot, and love it. There is a lot of white where I hunt though, but I don't worry about it. You can't go wrong with either one.

I'm a big fan of the Fall Grey and Brown.  I don't spend a lot of time hunting ground blinds, but I can tell you that it works great in a treestand!  As long as you don't blow it by moving, they have a tendency to look right through you.  Like Andrew stated, the white blotches are there for a reason.

I've never used the Deception pattern, but my guess is that the brown would be the better pattern.....but then again, I'm biased.

For a tree stand the brown would be on my back for sure.

I don't spend time in trees anymore....
hence the problem...grrrr

Personally, I think the brown is more versatile.  But, your photos seem to show the green to be a bit better in that particular situation.  It would be interesting to see what your b/w photos would look like after the leaves have dropped.  Tough call but in the end, I think either would work well.  Availability and/or price might sway you one way or the other.

It really doesn't matter what you wear, just sit still. I shot deer wearing red and black plaid jus sitting next to a tree.

I agree with the leaves off pic...have to wait a while for that one..lol Most likely going to make a not as informed as I should be decision by then.

So happens price and availability are the same in this situation...too bad coulda made the decision easier..lol

Thanks for the input everyone!
