Got a couple questions I need some help with.  

First of all I shoot FF string and axis arrow.  My nocks are extremely tight at which point I tried the boiling water method with little to no results.  I then obtained a small file and widled them down a bit but its touchy cuz if I take off too much the nock is so loose it won't even stay on the string at which point I have to try and crimp them back down.  Not sure of all the choices for nocks for axis (mite call 3rivers) but is there a bigger size nock I could get or another way of solving my problem?  Thnx

Second question is I shoot off the shelf and always have good arrow flight regardless of bow make/model.  However, I've never tried the idea of placing a small piece of whatever under the arrow rest and/or strike plate.  Is this something most of you do who shoot of the shelf?  I shoot a pronghorn 3pc mostly, but have a yellowstone and crooked stick as well.  Thnx again!

I make my own strings so I usally serve to fit.If not I'll sand a tight nock to fit better.The only other nock I know to fit Axis/MFX are Bohning A-nocks,they do have a slightly larger throat then the Easton X-nocks.I too like to put a piece of a leather shoe lace under my rests.It will raise the arrow slightly and give me a smaller contact point,just have always done that on my bows I shoot off the shelf.

I have been using Accunocks. They spread open when you shoot and seem to work very well. They have a loose fit, but stay on the string well. For the Axis and Beman's use the "X" Accunocks(I believe they are called). These work with various serving sizes with no problem.

I just reserve to fit, takes less than 5 minutes

Several written sources recommend a "pivot point" in line with the deepest inset of the grip.  Reportedly, that enhances forgiveness.

I use a piece of round toothpick from the middle where it's consistent in dia.

Have to adjust nock height on string, but it seems to help me.

A tight nock fit is a nightmare in tuning a bow!  The best nocks for a longbow for me are mercury Speed Nock.  These have no snap.  Some folks don't like them, but I serve all of my strings to fit the nocks and I have had no issues with arrows falling off.  These are the easiest for me to tune.
