The Compton Rendezvous is over for another year but the memories will linger.

This was at our camp on Saturday night. This rig was purchased from the blacksmiths that were set up on the grounds. The fare is, A leg of lamb on the rack and pork loin on the spit. It fed a dozen people with meat left over.

Makes you wanna say, "What's on the spit Pilgrim....grown particular?"

Dadgum! I knew I was in the wrong place Saturday night. Looks mighty toothsome there Ron  ;)

One of my favorite movies; just bought for $5 in a bargain bin.  That pic is making me drool; I can literally smell the meat cooking!
Chasing my kids and my degree for now but come next fall the critters better look out.  ;)

Mason and I watched it yesterday too..... again, for the 150th time. That is one of the best parts of the movie. Mason can quote the ending of that scene where Chris is mounting up to leave and telling Jeremiah, " March is a green, muddy month down in the bottom, farmers like it mostly....."

That is one nice setup you got there from the Compton blacksmith Ron. You are fully outfitted for any kind of vittles a man could want around a fire now. I need to get him to build me a fireplace tool set one of these days. All the stuff in stores is cheap Chinese junk.

Do you by any chance happen to remember the blacksmith's name? Possibly a website?  It does seem to be on the opposite ends of the spectrum... that is a blacksmith having a website.   :)

They don't have a website but the name is Raccoon Forge and the phone is 260-281-2931

O.k. I "re- read" your post and there was some leftover....

As good as that movie is, the book is even better if you ever get a chance, read it.

cant figure people down there eating hog when they could be feeding on elk.

The book is much richer. Less a hero more a man, that life threw a curve.

One description that stands out for me is him making a bivy in the snow -under a skin I think. He loved his wife.
