want to buy my daughter a good beginner bow......have looked at both in 3 Rivers catalog.......any one have either of these or have experiance with either......she wants one at least 35#......  

One of my co-workers bought a samick to he see if he wanted to convert from Compound to recurve, he enjoyed it enough to convert and then upgraded to a hoyt.

Samick makes a good bow. I own one stingray and have another on the way to replace one I sold.

I have both, a 62" Greatree Mohegan recurve at 25# for my daughter (which I sometimes use to work on form) and a 62" Samick Sage at 45#.

I know alot of folks have given the Samick Sage good reviews, but the riser on the one that I got when ordered from 3Rivers had some weird scratches in the wood.  Other than that, I like it alot.  The Greatree Mohegan shoots really well, too, and was cheaper than the Sage.  In fact, the local bow shop sold me the Greatree, all set up with string nock and arrow rest, and half a dozen pinkish arrows for her for less than the Sage when you include shipping costs.

I have no other experience with any other kind of Samick or Greatree, but I think both make good beginner bows.

My first bow was a Samick Sage 35#. It's a very nice bow for the beginer bowhunter. The draw weight goes from 25# up to 60#.

I bought my girl friend a Greatree Osprey. It is a decent bow for the price and the Zebra wood is easy on the eyes.

Also, I bought my step son a Samick Sage and it performs very well for him.

Do a search on Samick Sage in the Pow Wow forum and you should get lots of reviews.

I brought my older daughter a Red Stag 60" 40# @ 28".   Its a very nice bow for the money and a great performer!  I'm thinking of getting my self one too now that I've seen it in action.  

I had a Red Stag TD and it was great shooting bow, especially for the money.

I bought the Samick sage and have had a great time shooting it.No problems this far.

My son is shooting a Greatree Mohegan and it's worked really great for him.  Great bow for a great price.  I've heard good things about Samicks also, saw my first one a couple weeks ago and was very impressed with it also.

I really like my Samick DeerMaster and I've heard nothing but good things about the Sage.

I have worked with all the bows above, I coach 4H archery, and we have sevedal of each kind at practice. The Samick seems to have the edge over the Greatree, overall in shooting, quality etc. The Samic SAge is a great buy, finish onthe riser varies from time to time, but a real value, at least the 4 different ones  Ihave shot have been.

one my best bows i own is a samick hawkeye it performs as good or better than my customs

with the Sage you can always buy stronger limbs if need be

First off im pretty new to traditional archery(about 3 years) but the first bow i bought was the samick and i thought it was pretty darn good for the money. just went to 3rivers yesterday and bought 40# limbs so my girlfriend can shoot it. all in all no complaints here

I bought my wife a Samick Sage and I was very impressed with the way it shoots.  The riser was a little rough but not bad.  I think it is worth the price and for about half of the bow price you can buy new limbs from 35# up.  You can let your little sweetie shoot it and borrow it and screw on some heavier limbs and make it a daddy bow in a pinch.  The no tools needed to change limbs is handy too.  It has all the inserts for quiver, reel, elevated rest, etc you need on it too.

I have both, both are fine, but I prefer the Samick. For the price of the Mohegan you should compare it to the Samick Polaris.
