The road to "Sherwood" makes for an awesome journey.

The natives are getting restless....

I guess I better bring mine back in so you can get a pic of them together....    :bigsmyl:

Ok, finally strung it up this morning to shoot it and take pictures. Gator1 was on point! Oregon Okie and I had a couple of 64" Whips made up for us by Dan. Except Dan made a mistake on Okie's...the shelf is on the wrong side..........   :goldtooth:  His limb veneers and the bocote with the....well I'll let him tell ya. Here's mine.

I really like the grip over all other longbows and a lot of recurves I have shot. There is a flat area for the meaty part of your lower thumb to rest on. It is a good reference and contact point for a consistantly repeatable grip. Well done Dan!

...and no the Blacktails still hold the top rung on the rack! ;0)

That's a beauty Snag, how is the shelf cut? Let us know how it shoots.

Oregon Okie

you always think the pics will do it justice but mine never do. Still looks pretty good though.
Texas Ebony in the riser. Frog's hair (???) Myrtle in the veneers.
My first ever bow built for me (except the one I built for me)

These bows are brothers......cool!

Bjorn, this bow loved the 60#-65# Surewoods I shot through it this morning...so much that I was late for work! But that's ok, I know the boss pretty well....haha The shelf is cut to center.

This bow is so smooth. I actually busted a nock. Then the arrow hung vertical on the target. So I thought "oh well, I won't hit the arrow..." next arrow splits the shaft!
Quite a bow!

Very nice Okie! Love those limb veneers. Mine feels heavier than 52#. I'll check it tonight. Sure throws an arrow!

So Russ, you going to take a dremel tool to the grip area?    :scared:

ha ha... you that's why I got it.
I am trying to figure out how to make my other bow grip like this one though...
The first time I shot a whip I literally "WHOOOPED" and now I finally have one...

Snag,
Were you a victim of going to Western States?
Dan had some nice stuff there. How in the world are you going to explain this deviation to Norm Johnson?

Gotta agree with you there Okie man.  I was thinking it may be a HHA bow.  But I think Craig mails in boxes.  Some much for wishing      :(

Now that I see them the anticipation was worth the wait.  There are just some amazing artisans out there building custom bows these days.  Gotta say though that Oregon Okie's bow steals this show for me.  Beautiful myrtle.  That's the second bow today killer figuring in the myrtle.  And Texas Ebony is just bad-a**!       Snag's is beautiful as well.  And since we hammered him so hard I'll give him and OO a big

Hey Bob, you guessed it. Well actually it was Okie's fault. He pulled me over to Dan's booth and put a Whip in my hand. That's all it took, I was done. But of course I had to shoot it too. Sealed the deal. There I was with a gorgeous new Blacktail of my dreams....and I handed to Dan to hold for me! while I shot a Whip....it was just crazy!
I agree Mike the limb veneers in Okie's bow are it! Mine are the tiger myrtle that have good dark grain which is good...just not the figured stuff that the kid got. It's his first he should be spoiled right out of the gate though. haha

Friend

You both have quite attractive bows.

By not having personally shot one may have saved me from myself.

Congrats!!!!!!

Snag,
I walked away but confirmed I needed the "butt in the saddle grip" if I should order later. It's probably a good thing I didn't shoot one. But I did shoot Allen Boices new model the Edge and that may have been a mistake.
