Dont mind at all mate it would be wrong to get ideas from others and then not in turn pass them on.
I apply an undercoat of white and then in a cut off coke bottle put some 25 deg c water with a bit of borax.Add small drops of humbrol hobby paint to the surface and gently swirl them around on the film on the water.Then dip the shaft in spinning it and moving it around as it goes in.Blow gently on the surface of the water to move the paint out of the way and pull the shaft out of the water.Done..
