PS: Magnus I want you to know your arrows were not in any way at fault... It was and is this old sweating fat man trying to breath really warm and moist air while in a very unnatural position...lol

Come on Roy, don't be so hard on yourself.  Your not old.  LOL  Just kidding.  great shooting there.

That is really good shooting Mudd! I've been practicing this evening. I have sore muscles from getting up and down off the ground. I finally got two arrows in the plate in one round. I'm going to practice some more, Lord willing, and post my score later in the week.

I found a way to keep the arrow on the shelf. I had one arrow that would stay on the shelf using the technique I mentioned before. I padded my string with duct tape but that didn't help much. Here's what worked best:

I cut about a six in strip of plastic off a milk jug, folded in half and taped it together. I
held it in my bow hand so that it stuck up far enough to hold the arrow on the shelf. It doesn't seem to interfer with the shot.

Nice thinking Bona I just used my index finger still didn't help that much.  :biglaugh:

I figure the reason the index finger doesn't work that well is because that is usually the main finger involved in the grip, unless you don't grip the bow at all I suppose.

I just took a deep hook on my string and it helped a bunch.

Does on our back really mean shooting across our chest flat on our back? I obviously have never made this shot, but from being on the ground trying, I imagine I would draw and roll off my arm and in a sitting position in the same motion (or at least that is how I think I would do it).    :D

Just trying to make sure before I go lay in dead grass.

Flat on your back was the intent. I don't think I could shoot the way you discribe. It's too much of a production to get from a lying position to a sitting postion for me.  :help:

It would be a good one to call when you win!

BCWV

Looking forward to this one. I've never tried shooting on my back but I am getting pretty lazy, might be a good way for me to hunt between naps.

bartcanoe

I think I'm going to need a bigger backstop for this one.

I'm going out of town, so I'll try this later in the week.

As bad as my shoulder is feeling, I'm almost glad I can't shoot this week.   :D   I have never even thought of shooting while lying on my back.  I seem to remember one of the 'golden rules' of shooting was to NOT pinch the nock.  Oh, I'm sure going to try it when I'm all healed up.  I just may have to find some arrows I don't mind losing.   ;)

This is a quick little practice video for this challenge. Used Mudd's deeper hook idea and the arrow stayed true on the shelf.

Mudd

You did great in your practice Osage 61!

I wish I could just sit straight up the way you did to get your next arrow...lol

I placed mine at my finger tips so all I had to do was reach out and pick it up...lol No sitting up, those looked to much like a regular ole sit up for my comfort...lol

God bless,Mudd

PS: I'm glad the deep hook worked for you as well.
