I would see if you can hook up with some other traditional shooters in your area. Another set of eyes will help alot.
Welcome aboard you will enjoy.    :archer:
This is some good advice!
Nothing speeds things along and prevents major problems like a few friendly individuals that have the knowledge to help you through

The problem of asking these kinds of questions on here is that there are many ways to "skin a cat"! you will get lost on what works for everyone else.

I am fortunate to have met a bunch of guys in my area that took all the guess work out of setting me up for the first time.

What I did was PM people from this site who lived close by.  Great friendships have resulted from it!

Good luck, dont overthink it and most importantly have fun!

Also, dont be afriad to ask Mike from Maddog questions, I bet he will be able to answer many based on expereince with his own bows!

I think  you will like your new bow.

Okay all y'all dog lovers, bows just came in this week along with some arrows from Big Jim.  So here's a pair of matching longbows for me and my son.  Took him out today to break them in.

Thanks again for all the input and a special shout out to Maddog and Big Jim!
But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob;(from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:) -Genesis 49:24

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. TGMM ♥

Kid's got good form.

Like all these guys said.

Keep it simple.

If the arrow hits the target, where you want it to, repeatedly, and you put a sharp broadhead on the end of it: you're good to go.

Remember to practice with your broadheads. Practice practice practice.
