real nice longbow, congrats!

there's something special about a mild r/d longbow design that masterfully blends the stability of the old world and the performance of the new millennium. sorta like taking a hill longbow and a moab longbow and putting 'em into a blender.  ;)

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Montauks, All I can say it fits my hand, it hits where I'm looking consistently. Those shots were from 35yds, I have never been able to shoot a traditional bow farther than 20yds. (although I still wouldn't shoot that far while hunting).

wtpops, Steve is still building bows and has a website.

LeeNY

ronw, Nothing for sale donated my Kohannah to the ST. Judes auction. Although I am waiting for a Beeler to be built. Plus building a couple of self bows in the mean time.

Steve doesn't do a lot of advertising. He lets his work speak for itself and by word of mouth. All of his bows are built by his hands and he'll stand behind them. Can't say how impressed and how much I enjoyed my conversation with him. He told me that he has a "Wall of Fame" at his shop and I hope to add my mug to it one day!

PM me if anyone would like the link, otherwise, just do a search for Abbott longbows.
Thats good to hear, i while back he lost his shop and he was not sure he was going to contune building. Glad to hear he is back at it.

Hey buddy great job!!

 :jumper:

I recently picked up my new baby a 68 inch mild R/D longbow from Steve Welte, 54# @ 30 inches.  I too know how marvelous that combo can be. Mine is Yew back and belly with 3 lams tempered boo core.  I have a bacote riser, but cocobolo is sweet as well, maybe your bows contrast is nicer than mine.  Your bow sure is sexy, and looks like you shoot it well too!!

Good on you !!

Yes indeed. Steve does build a fine bow. Got a Bamboo cored 66" 44@28 in a trade here and am simply  awed by it.

LeeNY

About once a week I check out his site and his list of in-stock bows.

There's always a possibility for a new forever bow!!

Wannabe1

Yes indeed, I'm already entertaining the idea, once I'm squared away on some things, of getting one of his 68" bows. Gotta wait and see how this first one shoots though.   :D  Steve emailed me this morning and said it should be here Saturday.

That is a nice bow. It also is a really great group for 35 yards. If I shot like that at 35 yards I wouldn't hesitate to take the shot on game. However I don't.

I did have a forever bow once. somehow I sold it and bought another one after a couple of years. Still have a place in my heart for it though . Grin.

God bless you,, Steve

Thats some good shoot'n! Nice bow too..
A trophy is in the eye of the beholder.

Shooting at a maroon dot on a foam target is a lot different than shooting at deer sized animals. But, if the good Lord starts equipping deer with 3" dots over their vitals 35yds is not a problem. Until then I'll shoot my forever bow at 20yds. and under for hunting.   :knothead:

Doc Nock

Ok, I bid $150...!

Crraaaaapp... auction's over...I'm having withdrawal and all them pics... no bids...

I just kinda got caught up there...
        :knothead:

Ok... its so neat to hear that folks CAN find that one special bow if they look hard enough. I just try to beat myself into submission to shoot the same bow well to avoid all the stress!  :)

Congrats! May your love affair last long and prosper!

From the looks of that group, I'd say you found your groove, too! Happy for you.
