What is your opinion on fletch orientation for the best clearance and why?  For shooting off the shelf right handed archer.

Left helical, right helical, cock feather up, in, out?

I'm RH and when I shoot LW I like to shoot cock feather out.And when I shoot RW feathers I like to shoot cock feather in or straight up.Just have always done it this way and felt it gave me the best clearence.I just don't like a feather to line up right on the shelf,I like it to be postioned right at the v of the shelf & side plate. These days with tunable nocks on most arrows you can rotate them to where you like.

Left or right doesn't matter for most people. Occasionally a right handed archer will get their bow hand hit with a right wing feather.
As far as where the cock feather is... individual preference and what works for your bow.

Tie two birds together; though they have four wings, they can not fly.

In order of importance, IMO you need to include the correct spine, brace height as recommend by mfgr, and correct nocking point. If you have these the rest is pretty easy, it is what you like, they will all work.

I am RH, prefer three fletch, 5 to 5 1/2 fletch, LW helical.

I'm right handed and shoot right handed bows. I've always shot 3, 5" right wing parabolic feathers with eleven degrees of right helical twist. My cock feather is out.

I shoot right handed with 4" shield cut RW feathers with cock feather in, fletched with as much helical as I can get with the base having full contact with the arrow shaft. The upper left feather doubles as an anchor point verifier when it touches the end of my nose.

I think over the years I have tried every possible way to fletch an arrows. I to am right handed and shoot LB's and found that when I started using the very first fletching set up I used 40+ years ago I'm getting great results. I use 5" shield feathers LW left offset. I find that the feathers don't burn my hand as my grip is right to the shelf and helical l or r seems to burn. Gives me good clearance and flight. Experiment, thats what archery is all about, looking for a better way.
