Ok, what is the Fluffy Feather called that goes in front of the nock that allows you to see the arrow in flight better?  Looking to buy some. Thanks

Fur Tracers

Yep fur tracers. Made from strips of rabbit fur and dyed to color. I prefer white.

Yes, feathers are used as well....

In my opinion, white is the best color whether for feathers or fur tracers. I'll give my reason why.

Florescent green, orange, red, yellow, hot pink; these colors look great in the daytime. In the early morning when it's still quite dark, but becoming light enough to make out a deer and shoot an arrow, all the colors I mentioned, you can't see them upon arrow release. Ditto for the fading light of dusk before darkness falls. But, if one uses white colored feathers or fur tracers, you can see the white color under the low lighting conditions I've just mentioned.

This is why I fletch my arrows with 3, 5" white colored feathers. This has allowed me to take the shot and actually see the white colored feathered arrow in flight under these lighting conditions telling me if I've missed or my arrow has impacted on the deer's body, preferably the area where the lungs are located.

I have found fluorescent chartreuse to be highly visible for me in low light conditions.

I don't want to steal the post but the problem I had with bright yellow feathers was getting busted while hunting from the ground, though I could see using the smaller fur tracers without much problem.

You know hunting season is upon us when the arrows at my house are suddenly sporting tracers!  :D

Combining florescent orange with florescent chartreuse really makes a highly visible tracer.

White works great for all conditons- until it snows. Then, not so much. I use white on all my arrows. My 2nd choice would be pink. The chartruese, orange, and red sometimes blend in against a carpet of autumn leaves falling.

I never knew that had a name Terry. I just called them tracers. LSNE
