Mr.Magoo

Nothing too serious here.

I had the chrono out this afternoon and was surprised that I got the same fps out of two bows that are 13 pounds apart in draw weight (one 44@28 and the other 57@28).

Mudd

I would hunt anything in my neck of the woods that was legal and standing between 10 and 15 yds from me either broadside or quartering away.

God bless,Mudd

Archery isn't something I do, it's who I am!
The road to "Sherwood" makes for an awesome journey.

680 gns at that speed is a powerhouse! I would not be afraid to hunt anything in NA with that.

GRINCH

what were the bows you tested,I'd hunt everything alabama has to offer.

They were just about the polar opposites of bows, a HH Big Five and a Turkey Creek double carbon.

Funny thing is, I wouldn't think twice about hunting anything in NA with the HH (being 57#), but I wouldn't necessarily grab the TC (being 44#) when the fact is, they're firing arrows at the same speed.

Friend

Anything in NA - my skill level would restrict me from 15 yards and in.

Yep, 600+ arrows above 140 fps  ....  20 yards and under  ....  put it where it belongs and it will reach vitals.  Any NA big game including the BIG bears with backup

I shoot 446-459gr. moving in the 170's & I'd be confident out to 25 yards with em, with that I'd be the happiest camper around.

Slap a good Broadhead on em & take what you want inside of your comfort zone.

I wouldn't hesitate using either Bow for North american game, with exception of Sheep and Goats where you might have to take longer shots.I'd prefer something flatter and faster.

20 yards or less, with sharp 2 blade, anything that was in season anywhere! I might have to think twice about a big coastal Brown bear. But if it was in the boiler room....dead bear!

I really like the fact that you quote the arrow weight and the fps.

If you were to ask "can I hunt elk with a 65# bow", folks would say yes, and if you said "can I hunt elk with a 45# bow", most would balk.

But, the first bow may not be as efficient as the second. My LC throws a 515 gr arrow at a consistent 182 fps. It's below 50 pounds draw weight. I feel confident, despite the fact that technically my LC is a 45# bow (at 28).

I of course defer to those of you with much more practical knowledge.

Anything legal that held still long enough to put a sharp stick into it.  That arrow should hit like a freight train.

Mr. Magoo, aside from handling most critters quite well, I think your set up would do well on engine blocks.   :bigsmyl:
