Do any of yours whistle?  I just cut up a few turkey feathers with my low profile banana chopper and they whistle when shot. Any ideas as to why?  I am shooting them on cedars with fletch tape and super glue set at front and back of feather. They shoot great just noisy.

Never heard of  bananas whistling    thats one of the reasons for  them.   They are usually noiseless.   Vented broad heads are usualy the culprit of whistling . Fletching makes a "Whirring"  sound , shield cuts usually the noisiest.    EXTREME helical  might I guess make some noise I have never had that problem with bananas   I dont use them any more but not for that reason .

Mine are quite.  My son's target banana fletched make a noise, but they are secondary feathers which are softer than primaries.  So I would assume that is the reason for his making noise.

Interesting. I wonder if I may have a few secondaries mixed in the bunch. I have read tons about how quiet they are.....I will fletch a few more and try them also. The sound these are making is similar to the vented broadheads as stated above. They sound exactly like my snuffers but I am shooting these with a field point.

I had a friend of mine  accidentally cut some feathers backwards (with the quills leaning forward)and when he shot the arrows, they whistled but also flew very erratic.Probably not what you did, just thought I'd mention it.  :dunno:

I have been shooting nothing but banaba fletch for several years.  If anything they are quieter, but that may be because I am shooting the low profile.

Make sure you don't have a gap in the middle of the fletch between the tape and shaft.

I find the height of a feather has more to do with noise then their shape.I have had high banana fletch make some noise but lower banana very quiet.

Yes this was my first thought. I checked that.

I am not sure if these are low or high profile. I got the cutter in a trade. They are 5/8" tall and 5 1/4" long,

I think that sometimes when the feather cut is not consistent i.e. some taller or shorter, on the same arrow, it tends to make noise. Ive noticed that with my fletching. I have been using 4 x 4" nanners for long time, because they normally are very quite. Also the stiffness of the feather may have something to do with it. Not sure. The other day I used some guinea feathers as fletching, they sounded like a flag in the breeze.

I've shot banana fletch for years and high back's are loud.  I'll even get a bit of that "Robin Hood" arrow whistle with the low backs.

Here's an old vid clip I posted a while back.  These are low back naners.  Turn up your volume and you'll hear a bit of whistle (and while I've missed my share, nothing's ever ducked the 'hiss of death').

That video is exactly like how mine sound.

I had the same whistle with nanners. Fletched some arrows with feathers a friend gave me that I chopped and they all whistled. I had 4 shots one morning and 4 misses! The arrows went where I was looking but the deer weren't there to catch them! Needless to say the arrows were fixed that afternoon.
