I sure do miss Chris Farley. he was one of best comedians ever!

I had the old original Alaknak for about 12 years and about three years ago purchased the new Alaknak. Loved both of them. The new 12x12 has taller side walls which is a great improvement. Camped in it for 10 days in Wyoming last fall in some of the worst weather, very windy and wet. No problems at all.

Hey guys, thanks for all the info,pretty sure i'm gonna pick one up.Critter69, good points on the flap,I'm wondering if the spark protector would stop the leaking.Joebuck,I was looking at Montana Canvas site the other day,the spike looks nice but I think there's a little more room in the Alaknak.I've also got a 14x17 Montana canvas wall tent that I leave up all season.My primary use will camping at shoots & some short -extended bow hunts for the Alaknak. Mike Vines,I'm well aware of the search function.

I really like mine.  Got the 12X12 on SteveO's recommendation - he's my go-to guy on gear questions, if they've made it he's got one (or two)   .  I'm pretty "frugal" and the tent was steep for my wallet, but is well worth it.  I dig canvas, but this is much nicer to take care of since you don't have to worry about it if you have to put it away wet for a few days.  As stated, take care how you close and batten down the stove window - I had a little leak at Comptons last year in the hurricane before I figured it out.  Used it in some nasty weather last year and nary a drop inside after Comptons.

It is hot if out in the sun, but you can get a good cross breeze with all the ventilation.

Love mine to death!!!! Has one for about 5 years and it's flawless. I have the 12x12  and it is perfect for 2 guys and gear. Had 4 cots in it once and was a little cramped but cozy. We used a 12x20 in Colorado a few years back at 10,500 ft. Got some ugly weather but the tent held up fine.
I mainly use propane heat instead of wood stove. Just dont want the smoke smell.
