I just bought my son (soon to be 8) a Bark River Gamegetter knife to commemorate his first hunt this fall.  I'm taking him down to Texas to hunt hogs in November, and will present the knife to him after his first kill.

The fun part of the whole thing is that I got on the Bark River site and asked him to pick me out a new knife.  Little did he know he was picking his future lifetime companion.  I had his name engraved on it, and it might be a little optimistic, but I also had the date of the firstkill put on it too.

Anyway to my point before I forget why I started this.  The Sharpshooter sheath that comes with it is a good product, but I want a great product.  I want a sheath that has a snap to hold in the knife, and a better belt loop that is higher up and closer to the handle.

I can do an Internet search to find what I want, but I have seen some the amazing pieces of functional art that some of our members have made from leather.

Would any of you artists care to help me make a more memorable experience for my son.  I am not looking for any handouts, I will gladly pay for what I want.  I will post pictures this evening when I get home.

Thanks in advance everyone,

Mike

If you want the finest sheath available you will have to look up Sandy Morrisey. You can look him up on knifeforums.

Did you get any pictures??
I haven't had a chance.  I'm on 12 hr days right now, and will get a break by the end of the week, but then back to overtime for the weekend.  As soon as I get time, I will make it a point to post some.  Thank you for bringing this back to the top.
