I am just getting ready to start to shoot traditional again after 20 years.I've been shooting a compound with carbon arrows that weigh 275 grain.Is that going to be to light an arrow or will it work? The long bow is 45@28.

I think you'll find most people here use at least 400 grains. Do some searches on arrow weight. Also look at Ashby's reports. Good info.

I think the rule of thumb is 9 GPP (grains per pound) and up arrows when shooting trad bows. I think the majority of trad shooters shoot 10-12 GPP (grains per pound).

A 45# bow shooting a 275 grain arrow comes out to a 6.11 GPP arrow which in my opinion is way too light.

If you are talking 275 before point that would be in range of 400 with point so that would be ok if they are spined correctly for your bow. I shoot 10-12 grains per pound out of my bows.

Most bowyers recommend 8 to 10 grains per pound of bow weight. If you are pulling 45#@28"  at your draw, then your arrows can start at 360gr to 450gr or more. Good luck and have fun.

That might create excessive shock to your limbs. Martin recommended minimum 8gpp for my bow. But it gets a lot quieter at 10gpp. 10gpp is also what I see most people recommending here.
