I would like to hear some feedback from those who have used the tree sling or a product like it. Im looking at getting one and would like to know the good and bad, I think it would be a great way to slip around for whitails and also light enough to use elk hunting. Im not a small guy Im 6'-1 and wheigh 275, built like a fire hydrant. I can still bench press way more than I wheigh even at 42 years old, so stregnth should not be a problem. Im just wondering how long does it take before you feel comfortable and trust the thing. I also see some guys wear knee pads to put against the tree. are they manuverable? I would like some experienced opinions pleases.Don

I have used one for years and love it!  They are super easy to shoot from after you get used to it a bit.  I set up a bunch of trees with a couple of those strap on 3' ladder sticks...
http://www.gorillatreestands.com/steel-climbing-sticks-32-6-pack
These type allow for both feet to rest on the top of the stick.
I put these at the top of the tree and leave them there all season.  I use the three pack of the lone wolf climbing sticks to get me up the tree...I take these three in and out with me and from tree to tree.  They go on and off so fast it's not worth leaving them behind.  i also don't have to worry about anyone stealing the top couple of sticks.
They are a little tough on the knees, so yes, a good pair of knee pads are a must.  Other than that I always thought they were very comfortable. I always liked the fact that I could get out there an hour or so before daylight and put my knees an head against the tree and dose off without worrying about falling!

I just got Guido's web and I really like it so far. The nice thing is you don't need knee pads and the back support is adjustable. It does take getting use to but alot more comfort than a standard tree stand. Have fun and be safe. Greg

I have hunted out of my own make as well as store bought and have taken dozens of deer out of them. I think you will never look back if you make a commitment to use it. It does take some getting used to and a lot of little tricks to learn.

I use a tree saddle

I buy 8 inch bolts by the 100  and use a cordless drill with a woody's bit the bit is a larger diameter than the bolts so they just slide in on an angle I do a few trees a year mostly trees with y's and such    I have many trees set up this way and can move around according to wind, mood etc.  Between my tree saddle and lone wolf climber and a double bull blind I am set

I also use a tree saddle.  I have never felt safer in a tree!  All of my climbing stands have been sold.  I use the rapid rails or if its a tree that I use often I'll setup a climbing stick.  Practice with it in the back yard and you'll be comfortable with it after 3 or 4 sessions.  Oh yeah, knee pads are a must!
