Hello everyone!

I have a martin savanahh. It's a 62" 45#.
It's my first long bow and I like it quite a bit.

I'm thinking about a whip..same specs.

Other than the grip difference, how do you think ( or know from experience) they would compare?

Are we talking night and day? or just different?

Thanks in advance for the input.
Looking forward to reading what you all have to say.

I dont think you will find night and day. Both very good bows. Me thinks you need both.  :)

I never had the Savanna but did once have a Whip...The whip was a really smooth ,fast bow and the riser area(where the fades are) were very long where it meets the working limb...The limbs aren't wide either..The tips are some of the smallest I've seen and strong as an Ox....Dan can really make one pretty as you can imagine and his workmanship is some of the best I've ever seen in a bow....Keefer's <")))><

LongStick64

I have a Classic Whip, basically a Whip without the thumb rest. I've had a Savannah. Both bows shot really good, I was accurate with both. So on performance very close edge to the Whip. As to the sexy factor, Whip all the way.

The whips are a GOOD lookin bow aren't they?

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

Anyone else have some experience with these?

I've had both and still have the Whip. They were similar poundage(mid 40s). I agree the difference is not night and day, however, I do rather strongly prefer the Whip over the Savannah. I honestly can't tell you the exact reason, I just enjoy shooting the Whip more.
Having done so much, with so little, for so long, I can now do anything with nothing.

Never shot a Savanah, but I loved my Whip...I sold it to purchase one of Dan's recurves.

My brother just got a new Whip (64"  45@29). My next bow will be that exact set up....I can't believe how smooth and quiet it is.

Zradix

I thought about the 64". I think I'll be better off with the 62" with my 26.5-27" draw.

Thanks for the info !

Zradix, They have a 3d course open all year long.  Good practice and fun.

Zradix

If I'm ever down that way I might check it out.

I just realized something..
I think you might believe me to be in Shelby Township, which is close to Detroit.

I'm actually in a little village called Shelby which is about halfway between Muskegon and Ludington on the west side of the state. About at the "pinky knuckle" area.

This happens all the time.
You should see the look on the Semi truck drivers that pull into my work to ask "where is so and so? I can't find it." Then I have to tell them down by Detroit....not happy dudes.

I do appreciate the offer nonetheless and just might take you up on it.

Zradix, Yes i thought you were from Shelby Twp. i didn't know we had a Shelby MI.  The offer is still open if you are ever on this side of the state.

I have a Savannha 55# and love it, only wish I had your 45#. 55# is on the edge for me but am getting used to it. Now I know what everyone is talking about when they say don't over bow yourself. Never seen a whip. How is Michigan these days? Haven't been back in about 6 years. Was born in Muskegon but live in AZ since 5th grade.

Zradix

Michigan is DOWN.DOWN....DOWN.

But the sun is out and looking up.

too bad I'm not looking to move up in wt.
It would be a perfect deal..lol.

My son just picked up a 50# Savannah used. It's in my possession until he gets back from Iraq. I let him see it while on skype. I thought about a switcheroo but he'd probably kick my arse. Too bad about Michigan, hope it bounces back soon. Like your attitude. Not too many relatives still alive or there by choice now, few reasons to go back.
