I was reading a post to where someone had snake skins put on his bow and stated it didn't shot well afterwards. Someone replied with an answer of snake skins can ruin the harmonics of the limbs. I am very new to archery and was thinking of having my bower put these on my bow as its being made now. Would you guys mind giving me feedback on this?

I've put them on 3 bows and could not notice any difference at all in the way the bow shot. I also did not pick up any poundage gain that my scales registered. Just my findings. Don't lay your bow down in the leaves and walk off to retrieve arrows. It can be hard to find.

My favorite and best shooting bow I have ever shot has skins on it.

No difference at all in the ones I've skinned.  Just be careful if you lay it down in the woods...you may lose it!

I have also had no difference in the two bows I have skinned,one recurve and one longbow.

The Deer that i harvested with my snaked bow did not seem to notice a difference in the harmonics of my limbs.
I would do it if i were you. They look real purty.

I can't tell any difference in my skinned bow.  I used to really like the look of skins, but now I am more in favor of the beauty of the exposed wood laminations.

Hope you don't mind me jumping on this post but I have a 2 questions. 1 is do the skins stay on or do you have to keep at them.

2 if you want to take them off can it be done and get all the skins off and not damage the finish.

No not at all, we are all here to learn. The better part is that people here are willing to teach.

From reading other posts on the subject, I think the limbs will need refinishing if you decide to remove the skins.  Most people sand/roughen up the limbs to get the skins to stick when applying them.

To insure the skins stay on forever I rough up the glass beyond a simple refinishing project.
