I think those are great ideas! Good thinking!
This will probably make it a bit easier for people over the pond to purchase bows from the US as well!  :)

I prefer the idea that anyone should be able to contact a seller even if only by email. I have bought items but don't usually sell my stuff. Not sure if I like the idea of charging for classified access. Maybe if wanting to sell? The grab bag idea sounds good and that would help justify a selling charge.
As far as the pre-approved goes. I spend a lot of time here, just don't say a lot. Hope lurking will count toward the pre-approval. Still don't even have my 100 yet.

Terry,
Buying stuff sight unseen from folks you do not personally know can be risky, especially when someone joins a group like TG with the intent to deceive.  I appreciate the effort you and Rob put into ideas and procedures designed to protect the general membership.  In addition to a fee, one time or annual, how about asking the folks who want to be pre-approved to provide some form of personal ID, like a drivers license number.  Doesn't guarantee success, but adds one more hurdle for the less than honest to overcome.

Y'all are cookin with gas now! I like it...a lot.

I think revealing personal info on any website is a recipe for unwanted attention (sales calls, spam email, ect...). I think if y'all require/keep personal info on a individual, that's fine, you have info to fall back on if needed but putting it out there for every yahoo to see could create issues...

A Paypal option also is a good idea (kinda a second form of protection and/or source of info).

I'm not apposed to going by my real name...lol

Just not sure how many folks would recognize me...lol

or how long it would take me to re-learn how to respond to someone calling me Roy.

I'm game whatever is decided.

I think the paying and the minimum time as a member or having the references thing would weed out many scammers who wouldn't want to wait. Of course I wouldn't make the cut (but I'm a patient person any way so no big deal).Getting 100 posts wasn't hard with all the questions I had, i didn't know what ttt or the other abbreviations were anyway. In the short time I've been here Ive gotten to know quite a few people and avoid the other sites because they were not my type, I like it here and any sacrifice I might have to make to preserve it is worth it. So do what must be done. Thanks Merle

The idea of paying for the ability to list items in the classified section seems sound and may limit most of the scammers. You may want to put a reasonable limit to the number of listings a member can have active at one time as well.

I have only a few transactions over a couple of years and they turned out fine.  Have no problem with a fee and giving up some personal info such as phone # & address to keep it that way.  I'm in.

Terry,

Whatever you and Rob come up with will be fine with me. I really appreciate all that goes on behind the scenes to keep this site everything that it has become. I have had numerous dealings with to many different people to even remember them all. It has also gave me the opportunity to spend some time on various 3D courses around the country with like minded people. THANK-YOU for everything that ya'll do !!!!!!!

Agreed...

Pre-approval is a wonderful idea...Those serious about it will take the needed steps. Really gives both buyer/seller/trader/tradee more piece of mind.

Still thinking about the "grab bag" idea...not sure how I feel about it just yet...I mean I agree with it, but I think it could easily get people sidetracked....I am guessing it would be under the same "pre-approval" setting?

I liked the idea posted earlier...

You have to be a contributor (for the current year)to be able to post in the classifieds.

Not sure how I could help but if you need me just ask. I'm on a little while most everyday. Will work for hunts. Kiddin.

I have bought and sold in the classified here and have always felt safe because of how this site is run.  I can't say the same for other sites.  I would not be opposed to a yearly fee and a minimum post requirement for approval.

KyStickbow

I wouldn't mind to pay a fee to enter the classifieds. I can't sell yet anyway, but wouldn't have a problem at all when that time comes.
