PAC what brace height do you have set. My son just got his midsize maddog recurve and I'm just curious.

That's how I start most sessions, step out the door and let one fly at 55!  Nothing like watching it arc to the target and then that satifying quiet strike as it hits the shot out part of your target.  There are the other ones that arc nicely right into the wood frame or target shed roof!  No need to dwell on that.

Just as woodcock says I also dont dwell on the arrows that dont listen. I can let em fly at  45yards. I also feel the long distance shooting helps with the closer shots.

Pac good shooting, I would be lucky to hit the bales.

BU1 my brace height is 6 1/2". You're boys will have to tinker with their own brace height to figure out what shoots best for them but maybe knowing where mine is can help with a starting point.

I have always shot distance and I think other than being fun it help for 2 reasons. 1 it is like when a batter puts on extra weight on his bat before going to the plate it feels easier when you're up to bat which leads to #2 the confidence factor. Knowing what you capable of at 50 yards really helps with confidence when its time for a 15 yd shot on a nice buck.

Nice shot!  I doubt I'd even hit the backstop at that distance.

great shot, but please find a safer place to shoot...I know you said the neighbor is aware..but too many other possibilities...one mistake and you can never change it....but as I said ...hell of a shot.

Nice shot Pac!  Looks like the bummed up shoulder has healed up nice enough to practice them long shots.  Give me a call, I know where some REAL piggies are.

I have been shooting long range for several years. The more you shoot long range the better you will get. I am shooting now out to 70 and can consistantly hit the vitals at 50. It is just plain fun wathcing the arrows and  playing  a little archery golf/ shootin a few areil targets, try a few trick shots. Have fun with it, thats what is all about!!!!   My hunting shots are less than 20
